Greetings,
During Eid, we may experience route cancelations as 30% of our bus drivers will be taking time off. No date set as of now, but Eid could occur between April 19th to 22nd.
Did you know that 30 percent of our MPS school bus drivers are of Muslim Faith?
About Ramadhan:
Ramadhan, the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar,
is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (Sawm), prayer,
reflection, and community. Not set on any specific date, this year it begins
with the appearance of the crescent moon on March 23rd and ends at
the announcement by Muslim Leadership in Saudi Arabia with the celebration of
Eid.
The idea behind fasting is to practice self-restraint, one of The
Pillars of Islam. Fasting is done from dusk till dawn each day of Ramadhan.
Every Muslim that has reached puberty, and is physically capable, is required
to fast.
Eid is the traditional celebration at the completion
of fasting.
So, I invite you to greet your Muslim community members with “Ramadhan Karim” which means to wish someone a ‘generous Ramadan’
You can also watch this MPS Neighborhood video: What is Ramadan? to learn more.
Once again, Ramadhan Karim to all of you.
Thank you all,
