Meet the Officers

2018-19 PTO Officers

President: Marye Knudson

Hello! My name is Marye Knudson and I am currently serving my second year as PTO President. I am married to Ben and we have a 4th grader, Levi, at Howe. We have lived in the Cooper neighborhood for 14 years, and can often be found on our bikes, at the soccer field, or relaxing in the yard.

I am so appreciative of the welcoming and supportive community we have found at Hiawatha and Howe. As your PTO President, I hope to bring this sense

of inclusivity to all parents, students, and staff through our events, enrichment opportunities, and classroom support.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at with whatever questions you may have. I hope to see you at our next PTO meeting or at one of our great events!

Vice-President: Jen Clough

Co-Treasurer: Jackie Gaare Hi Husky families!

I’m Jackie Gaare, and this is my first year as the PTO co-treasurer. I have a 4th grader at Howe and my husband Eric is an Associate Educator at Hiawatha. I love our school and became active in the PTO because it provides so many

opportunities to get to know other families and helps provide more enrichment experiences for our kids. Whether you have a lot of time to be involved or very little – we’d love to see you at an upcoming event or meeting or hear from you through email.

Co-Treasurer: Jessie Hendel

My name is Jessie Hendel and I am serving my first year as PTO co-treasurer. It’s a big job and I have a lot to learn so I am happy to be sharing the post with Jackie! I am married to John and have three girls. Nova

is a 1st grader at Hiawatha, Paige is a 10th grader at Edison and Maeve is a busy preschooler. We live in the Hiawatha neighborhood and love our block. I've really enjoyed getting to know this school community and look forward to building our connection over the coming years.

Secretary: Joanna Rosa

My name is Joanna Rosa and I am serving my second year as PTO secretary. I have two daughters: Izzie is a 4th grader at Howe and Maggie is a Kindergartener at Hiawatha. We love living in the Hiawatha neighborhood, and I joined the PTO because I wanted a way to connect to other amazing families in our community. I’ve learned a lot in the last year while on the PTO and I look forward to supporting our Hiawatha/Howe students.
